Get inspired with Pantone’s color of the year
We hope everyone is enjoying our balmy and beautiful beginning to the new year. When we hear how bone-chillingly cold it is all over the rest of the country, we’re reminded once again why we love living in perpetually sunny Los Angeles. Where else can you rock a sundress in January?
We’re celebrating this brand new year with a burst of exuberant color. Every year, the color experts at design powerhouse Pantone introduce a color that they feel encapsulates the zeitgeist. This year, they’ve taken inspiration from the beautiful purple-pink hues displayed by phalaenopsis orchids. In Pantone’s press release, Radiant Orchid is described as “an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. [It] blooms with confidence and magical warmth, that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination [and] emanates great joy, love and health. An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.” Now that’s something we can get behind! Check out a few of the ways we can help you incorporate this lovely, warm color into your life this year.

Bring a pop of Radiant Orchid into your home with napkins and candles, work it into your wardrobe with bright accessories, or start a craft project featuring the color. Clockwise from top left: our ever-popular peony candles, fringed silk scarf, paper party tassels and flowers, vintage chipboard tickets, satin ribbon, Indian cotton napkins, Afghan embroidered pouches, silk shantung pouch and beaded clutch.

Adorn yourself in radiant jewels, and you’ll bloom brighter than any orchid. Clockwise from top left: Victoria Cunningham pink sapphire necklace in 14 karat rose gold, Nixin watermelon tourmaline and diamond earrings in 14 karat gold, Kothari agate earrings in 18 karat gold, Joseph Brooks raw ruby necklace in oxidized sterling silver, Nixin pink sapphire ring in oxidized sterling silver, and delicate pink sapphire and tourmaline stacking rings in 18 karat gold.
As we approach Valentine’s Day, we think Radiant Orchid – flirtatious and a little girly, yet warm and elegant – is a particularly fitting color in which to express your love. Present your valentine with a blooming phalaenopsis and a sparkling jewel from New Stone Age, and watch as her heart melts.
